"Revolution" by The Beatles

Animal Farm is a fascinating book to learn because it is an allegorical story. At its most fundamental level, the book is a fable. Students will enjoy finding out what happens on Manor Farm after the animals rebel and take over. However, to truly appreciate author George Orwell's work, students must analyze Animal Farm as a political satire of Stalinism and the Russian Revolution. To that end, farm animals become more than creatures who simply speak and act like humans. They are the main characters who provide valuable lessons about how political and governmental organizations often work. Orwell's key lesson is disturbing to those who value the political process, yet it should not be surprising.![]()
