The play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett is based on the writings of a young girl during World War II. This story is especially compelling because Anne wrote her diary at the same age as many of today's middle school students. She had a normal childhood until Adolf Hitler and the Nazis began what is known as the Holocaust. Despite the horror in the world, The Diary of Anne Frank shows the unconquerable spirit of a young girl.
