What is KIMMEL'S KORNER? Now, that is a good question! As a teacher, I get a lot of those. This particular question cannot be answered so easily, however. My best suggestion is to read the introduction below in order to quickly acquaint yourself with KIMMEL'S KORNER. After all, your visits to my website should be productive ones!

I want to formally welcome you to KIMMEL'S KORNER, the centerpiece of my curriculum. All students may use this website, but Forest Glen Middle School students, in particular, are to reference KIMMEL'S KORNER for Language Arts material discussed in my class. Frequent visits are required!

If you are unfamiliar with my teaching background, philosophy, and personal favorites, you may first want to read About the Teacher. We are going to spend a lot of time together, so learn more about me!

One of the first things students and parents say to me after their initial visit to KIMMEL'S KORNER is, "Your website is a lot more than I expected." I suppose that comment is the result of viewing many educational websites that are, quite frankly, boring. The last thing I want my website to be is boring. After all, like it or not, educators are also in the entertainment business!

KIMMEL'S KORNER has evolved over the years. Boy, has it evolved! It modestly began as THE PANTHER PROWL in 1999 while I was a teacher at Westpine Middle School in Sunrise, Florida. Back then, the website consisted of approximately 10 pages, including a few links per page. When I accepted a new position at Forest Glen Middle School in Coral Springs, Florida, the name was changed to THE WILDCAT PROWL. Eventually, I purchased my own domain and again changed the name, this time to KIMMEL'S KORNER. Throughout the years, many new pages and features have been added, giving the website its current look and feel. With so many pages now part of KIMMEL'S KORNER, I jokingly refer to it as a monster out of control!

Utilizing the website is rather simple. The home page is the navigational center. To make things easier, the Table of Contents divides the numerous pages contained within this website into four categories: Introduction, The Essentials, Literature, and Miscellaneous. Throughout the school year, my students are asked to conduct research, or complete an assignment by going to the appropriate location. For example, some locations or pages are conveniently named after literary works. Additional pages such as Plays and Short Stories contain multiple works. Links are provided for students to gain greater insight.

I know that keeping up with class activities and homework is sometimes difficult. As a service to both students and parents, I created the Daily Class Activities page. If students are absent from school, or they wish to review assignments, this is the page to see.

Several times during the school year, a major assignment or project will be announced. Examples include essays, Literary Fair creations, and cooperative group tasks. Detailed instructions for these tasks can be found on the Projects page.

If you are a visiting teacher, KIMMEL'S KORNER can be used for reference and research. You can also gain a better understanding of middle school Language Arts curriculum.

As mentioned earlier, I have tried to make my website an extremely enjoyable place to visit. There are animations, music, news, sports, contests, and much more. For added fun, move your cursor over the animations!  Regular features such as Beyond the Music and The KORNER Jukebox help to take students' minds off school after work is completed. And don't forget to cast your vote each week on the KIMMEL'S KORNER Student Poll!
